When you are all ready to get a night's sleep, having a snoring partner in bed with you can be frustrating. It's both troublesome as well as unhealthy. The good news is that there are ways to put a stop to your snoring for good. What follows here are 8 of the most popular ways to help you to stop snoring for good.

1. First and foremost, to stop snore, try to get your head elevated. You can do this with simply a thicker pillow, or using several pillows, or sleep in such a way that you are in an almost sitting position.

2. If you usually take a muscle relaxant of any sort before you "hit the hay," you may inadvertently be causing the problem. This holds true for alcoholic beverages, sleeping pills, or any antihistamines with the side effect of drowsiness. When your muscles relax, your airway can become narrower. Avoid doing it.

3. Many people do not understand that dairy can be causing their snoring. What happens when you eat or drink dairy products is that mucus builds up and this may lead to a night full of snoring.

4. A cause is that many suffer from in America is being overweight, providing yet another good reason to get into shape. This extra weight can lead to a blocked airway, which can lead to snoring as your body struggles for breath.

5. By sleeping strictly on your side rather than back, you can stop it simply because it helps you maintain good airflow. Though it may be almost impossible for you not to roll onto your back, there are ways to stay sleeping on your side such as attaching a tennis ball to the small of your back. It may sound like a funny idea, but the discomfort of the tennis ball will prevent you from rolling over.

6. In addition to losing weight, you may need to stop eating large meals just before bed. This habit will lead to your stomach pushing upwards on your diaphragm, which may limit your ability to breathe normally.

7. Once you are congested, or have mucus built up, you may be prone to snore. In order to limit this effect, you should try to breathe in steam from a hot bath, or plug in a humidifier by your bed as you sleep. This will add moisture to your throat and treat this issue.

8. If you are a smoker, then here is another reason that you can add to the list of reasons to quit. Smoking can lead to snoring. Try not to smoke just before bedtime. Smoking will contribute to an inflamed and swollen throat, making a stop snoring effort pointless in the end.
